Sustainable Transport System Framework
Galle Saliman undertook a series of commissions for the Government of Jersey’s policy department.
The first consisted of drafting a series of questions for the annual island survey to inform a bus transformation strategy for Jersey.
The challenge was to create questions that could still be used to deliver trend analysis based on those asked in previous years as well as drawing out some new public perceptions on bus travel and barriers to use.
The question design document included an associated rationale for the inclusion of each question, expectations and potential issues with those answering it, and an explanation of the methods of analysis to be employed on return.
The second commission consisted of analysing the questionnaire returns from a separate Sustainable Transport Plan 2 consultation. The work also drew on other evidence, including the annual survey, to generate a series of punchy paragraphs supportive of policies to address the island’s four key challenges:
- Addressing the school travel challenge
- Reducing single vehicle occupancy
- Creating Sustainable Travel hub(s)
- Workplace Travel Planning
The paragraphs were used in the policy brochure: A Framework for a Sustainable Transport System 2020-2030.
